Bike Weight Truly Matters
Introducing the Blue Sky 20, where bike weight truly matters! Crafted meticulously in small batches, each frame features double-butted 7005 aluminum tubing for optimal strength and weight efficiency. With super-clean internal cable routing, forged dropouts, and post-mount disc brake mounts both front and rear, the Blue Sky 20 ensures a smooth and controlled ride. Starting in the low 19-pound range with the Pro Deore model, our focus on high-quality component selection ensures exceptional performance. Noteworthy details include our new lightweight 127mm Trailcraft aluminum spindle direct mount cranks, offering your choice of 28 or 30-tooth narrow-wide style chainring to minimize weight without compromising strength.
The Blue Sky 20 Pro model elevates performance with our Stans Crest MK4 Custom 1050-gram wheelset. Expertly laced hubs, lightweight rims, and Ashima 85-gram 160mm rotors provide optimal stopping power while maintaining a super-lightweight profile. Often overlooked, rotor selection plays a crucial role in reducing rotational weight, enhancing the riding experience for both beginners and seasoned riders alike.
For enhanced control and comfort, our TC30 air-sprung suspension 80mm fork stands as the lightest 20" fork available. Combined with BIG tubeless tires, it smooths out rough terrain, allowing for longer, more enjoyable rides with your young rider.
Customizable Component Selection: Tailored to Your Preferences
Our commitment to customizable options extends to component selection. The Pro model 1x10 group features Shimano Deore brakes, a Shimano Deore shifter, and a Shimano Zee rear derailleur, ensuring low weight and high performance. Alternatively, the Special Build Level 1x10 components offer Microshift 9-speed components and Shimano MT-201 hydraulic disc brakes, balancing weight, performance, and budget.
The Ultimate Goal: The Lightest Production 20” Trail Bike
The ultimate goal? To build the lightest production 20” trail bike, requiring no further modifications. Designed and built in Colorado, the Blue Sky 20 boasts super-light components, including our TC30 carbon fiber suspension fork and alloy spindle direct mount crankset. Choose your preferred chainring size based on your terrain, and enjoy the convenience of water bottle compatibility, a rarity in this category.
Versatile Performance: Ready for Any Adventure
Whether racing, hitting the trails, or exploring parks, the Blue Sky 20 delivers next-level performance and versatility. Built with premium components and meticulous attention to detail, it's not just another heavy 20" kids bike—it's a machine designed to keep up with your child's adventurous spirit. Assembled in Fort Collins, Colorado, each bike is tailored to your preferences, offering three color options, two build levels, and two chainring size options. Rims come pre-taped and tubeless-ready, providing an option to shed an additional 250 grams for an even lighter ride from the start.
The bike on this page is our PRO model, the absolute lightest 20" bike you can buy in the category at just about 18.5 pounds. For a more budget-friendly model (with a small weight penalty), check out our Blue Sky 20 LTD ready to ride bike.

If you want the very best kids’ 20” bike on the market, this is it! We bought the Blue Sky 20 in the Pro Build and couldn’t be happier. The components, geometry, weight, color selection and ability to customize options make this bike stand alone in the industry. Combine that with the outstanding, family-run operation and custom, customer service with Brett and Ginger that help with all details along the way, and you have a seamless process to give your kid their next dream bike… and the bike you always wish you had at this age. It climbs, shifts and brakes like no other and you’ll find it hard to get your kiddo to stop riding. Our family loves to bike and think the purchase was well worth it. We ride hours vs. minutes now and the overall quality keeps you riding and looking for the next series of trails to explore. You will not be disappointed!

Got my daughter on a Specialized Riprock 20″ (7 speed, disc brakes), on her 5th birthday. It was OK, but she was trying to keep up with 6 & 7 year olds and burning out quickly. I broke down and got the Blue Sky 20″ four months later. Fantastic change, top reason I bought it was the weight and there was an immediate improvement on her climbs and overall riding endurance. The weight also made the bike more nimble and maneuverable for her. Lastly she benefited from the additional gear range. This is the best bike out there for the size.

This bike is perfect for the kid who wants to go out and slay some dirt. Weight and geometry is exceptional for the young rider perfecting their craft. It is completely worth the price tag. It will not disappoint. Thanks Trailcraft!

I was between this and a woom off, it was hard on paper to justify the additional cost but this bike has been a total game changer. My 6 year old went from occasionally riding to now wanting to ride every day. This bike is both lighter and more capable than his single speed he was on last year. He has significant elevated his terrain capabilities but more importantly he absolutely loves riding now. Totally worth every penny.

The bike is perfect! My son (5 years old) has immediately been riding better than his old 16″ zulu 2. That old bike was good but this on another level.
Dealing directly with the owners at Trailcraft was great. Customer service was excellent. Overall, I’d say this was my best bike purchase experience ever. Thank you for being so awesome!!!
